Greetings my gardening friends,
Spring has finally arrived in full here in zone 6B and I have begun the process of hardening off the seedlings I started indoors. Generally I use whatever is at hand for temporary planters (plastic cups, coffee counters, toilet paper rolls, etc.).
I have listed the plants I will be adding to the garden this year below:
Vegetables: Beans (Bush & Pole) Beets Carrots Cowpeas (Black Eyed & Purple Hull) Cucumber s (Lemon & Marketmore) Eggplant Kale Leeks Lettuce (Mini Greens & Black Seeded Simpson) Mustard Greens Onions (Bunching) Pak Choi Parsnip Peas (Little Marvel Dwarf & Sugar Snap) Pepper (Jalapeno, Big Red-Sweet & Sweet Pickle) Radishes Squash (Patty & Zucchini) Tomatoes (Cherry & Roma) Flowers: Shasta Daisy Sweet William Morning Glory Delphinium Nicotiana Sunflowers Anthemis Tinctoria Black Eyed Susan Herbs: Sweet Basil Parsley (Italian Large Leaf) Mint (Lemon & Peppermint) Lemon Grass Balm Sage Sweet Woodruff Feverfew Lavender Fruit: Cantaloupe Watermelon
What do you have growing in your gardens? I would love to hear from you…

Do you plant in pots, soil, or both? You look like you have quite a green thumb!

I plant in both, but mainly pots because my yard is small. I truly enjoy growing plants and I am learning by example. I think my grandmother would have been proud. She is my inspiration!

Toilet paper rolls….genius. I’m using that next year! Do you plant the whole thing or pop the seedlings out of the rolls before planting?

I plant the entire thing because they break down quite easy. I love using them. Out of all the seed starting method, this is my favorite!

Wow! What an incredible list. You’re very ambitious, and certainly have a good green thumb to grow all these thing from seed. I applaud you!
Happy gardening!
Steve
PS. Watch out for the Sweet Woodruff… It’s lovely but can take over huge areas of your garden!

Thank you so much Steve. It gives me so much joy to watch new life form from a single seed. I will certainly watch out for the Sweet Woodruff. I have several of the plants in containers. Thanks for advising me of their tenaciousness.
